As a local family run business, we care greatly about the quality of the installation and service people are receiving.

For 24 years, we have specialised in the installation of driveways and dropped kerbs. We keep all of our work in house which ensures you receive our consistent quality of workmanship. We have installed hundreds of driveways and dropped kerbs around Exeter, Torbay and surrounding areas over the years.

We own our own grab lorries and tarmac hot box. This allows us to ferry materials to and from your driveway installation quickly and effectively without having to do an excessive number of trips to and from site on small vans, or wait for outside companies to arrive. We often see this done by other contractors and usually the customer ends up with an un-satisfactory dig out depth and a limited amount of hard core put back in for the driveway structure.

Some of the materials we install:

Resin Bound Driveways and Path Surfacing

We first started to see resin bound surfaces being installed around 2012. At that time we were interested in starting to offer it as a material we could install, but wanted to give it the test of time before trialing it on our customer's surfaces. Companies manufacturing the resin formulas and mixtures have been developing  and improving the formulas to give a very reliable and proven surfacing material today. We have been trained and certificated for the installation by one of the leading resin bound manufacturers in the UK.

There are many benefits to using resin bound as a driveway or path surface. These include being able to choose from a wide variety of colours, it is a permeable surface that allows water to pass down through it, negating the need for drainage channels and soak aways to be constructed.

As we can install your dropped kerb as well as driveway, without subbing out any stage of the job, you can rest assured you are just using one firm to do complete all of the work to a high standard.

Block Paved Driveways

We can install any type of block paver you would like. Brochures can be picked up in most builders merchants or on request from ourselves.

The key to getting the best structure for a block paved driveway is to ensure the correct hard core sub base and correct sand is used.  We always make sure a course sand is used, which allows surface water to drain away quickly and not be retained. When finer sands are used, you end up with the blocks sitting on a sponge of water and allows movement in the blocks or at worst, for the sand to wash out from various areas below the blocks, leading to classic sinkage.

Using a correct depth of the right grade of hard-core material is very important to a long lasting driveway installation. Settlement or sinking can occur when people have dug out the area to uneven depths, and covered the area with new hardcore where it is deeper in some areas than others. When we dig out a driveway, we make sure we are digging to a nice even depth across the whole area. This allows the new hard-core to be laid and and well compacted at a nice even depth across the whole area. This means that all areas have been installed evenly, such that you don't get uneven settlement. In 22 years we have never had to go back to a driveway that has sunk or settled.

Tarmac Driveways

We have been installing tarmac driveways for around 12 years now. We tend to use a "hard stone" mixture as opposed to limestone when installing tarmac driveways. This gives you better grip and a material that doesn't fade to a grey colour in the same way. We also usually use a 6mm stone size in the tarmac as opposed to 10mm, as it gives a smoother more pleasing to the eye finish.

Gravel Driveways

A gravel driveway is an affordable way to get a driveway installed. We still dig it out and build up the hard-core level in the same way as a hard standing surface, but instead of tarmac or paving, gravel goes on top of the hardcore. This can help people get a driveway installed sooner rather than later, then in the future you can change to a hard surface if desired, without having to dig all the base layer out again. There are many gravel colours we can supply for a driveway. We collect your gravel on our own lorries direct from quarries and suppliers.
